John Boult is an independent Design Strategy Consultant specialising in design as a cultural change agent. He is Associate Professor of Design Strategy at Brunel University; a founding director of Product first, an award-winning UK design consultancy operating with a predominantly global client list; former director of Japanese Brand Agency Michael Peters (Asia-Pacific), author and a founding editorial board member / contributor to newdesign magazine. John has been a judge for the Plastics Industry Awards for many years now. He has extensive international design project experience and is an advisor and facilitator to Corporate, NGO, Government and Education design, brand, and innovation training initiatives throughout the world. In the UK he co-developed, trialled and refined the basis of the Design Council’s ‘Innovate & Designing Demand Programme’, still considered to be one of the world’s most successful design intervention initiatives. At Brunel Design School, he is the Design Masters’ Module Leader for Branding Strategy Studies and Design Futures, both of which he introduced and has developed at Brunel. Service design has been a constant theme at Brunel and one which John has championed at many levels.
